    Vyse St tragic event 1896

An angle not for everyone, of course..... but a friend of mine used to have a commercial property around the Vyse St area, in years gone by, and the work force there sometimes reported seeing the ghost of a 'young girl' around the property concerned..... Needless to say, it doesn't really take...

    Brummie Ghosts

I've never actually visited the museum in question myself, but I was wondering what forum members thought of this recent matter? https://www.expressandstar.com/entertainment/2016/10/14/black-country-mother-claims-to-have-caught-ghost-on-camera-at-birminghams-victorian-back-to-backs/ I have to...

    Hazelwell Pub - Spirits

Referring to the original post / query on this thread: I must admit that I've never heard of any reported activity at the pub concerned previously, Cresser. (I guess I should have said there: 'despite having been collecting such stories associated with the West Midlands area for many years...

    Brummie Ghosts

Thank you for your comments Astonian!!! It is interesting that you should mention a familial thread in your note, as it seems that most members of my family - who have no interest at all in the subject of ghosts, I should stress - have had 'paranormal experiences', while I (speaking as someone...

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

I reckon the date matter is probably a simple mistake from the Doctor Hetheringtons initial notes / indexing, perhaps Phil?

Rodney Inn, Concert Hall - Refreshments Token - Coleshill Street, Birmingham.

Just as a matter of potential interest...... but I was metal detecting in South Staffordshire this morning and came across the above mentioned token. Please excuse condition of my photograph, but I took some shots of my general finds quickly and then dumped the token straight into a pot of...

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

Re. the quote above concerning 'no known legend...' this also tends to make me think of some form of unofficial burial spot on or around that site, perhaps? As mentioned earlier, a lot of sites appear to be 'known' as such, but no one seems to have the foggiest as to who or why and so on(?)...

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

The date given is situated in a 'Date Opened' column, rather than a second column listed as 'Date Closed To New Graves'. The pdf page is here: https://www.bmsgh.org/TYAIB/BurialGrounds.pdf

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

Thank you Bernie. I'd just been poring over some of the older maps of the city in an endeavour to see where the junction concerned would have basically been situated and whether there might have been some form of marker, etc. Sadly, no cupie doll, so far! Laugh!!

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

Again, more questions than answers Phil!?!?! Chuckle!! Given that this might be a form of deviant burial spot, perhaps - suicide or whatever - it has been interesting to note how quickly detail surrounding these things can sometimes be generally forgotten, while still able to have some...

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

This is the only reference I could find to the matter Phil. It would be interesting to work out exactly when this junction would have been officially made, as - if it were indeed a deviant burial site - I'd have presumed the body would have already been there by the dates given...... or at...

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

Thanks for the comments..... The mystery deepens, eh? Does anyone have a copy of the 1779 map at all, to check precisely where the 'Grave' is marked, perhaps...... the size of the site indicated and whatnot? Again, I'm most probably taking the term too literally, perhaps, but....... fingers...

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

Thank you very much for the prompt replies...... I'd seen a reference to the Jewish site previously and also checked out maps / views of the region, etc, but couldn't get to grips with the seemingly singular and specific reference / name itself? Maybe the name is, of course, ambiguous at best...

'days Grave'?? Anyone Ever Heard Of........?

I've just been having a general 'poke around' on a site listing Birmingham burial grounds and the like and came across a very brief reference to 'Days Grave' which - it is said - was 'marked by Hanson on corner of present Bath Row and Islington Row......' The date 1779 was given with the...

    Brummie Ghosts

Funnily enough Astonian, I was phoned yesterday by a woman who reported a successful blessing by a priest - getting rid of a ghost, or so she thought - a few years back. I'm normally very dubious about such things, but it seem that - in her case at least - such a process did indeed seem to work!

    Brummie Ghosts

I'd guess everyone has probably seen the matter by now (?), but, seeing as it's been in recent weeks and is certainly Birmingham based: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/poltergeist-at-birmingham-hair-salon-6065679

Hi All, Firstly - can I just say THANK YOU to Big Gee for having just drawn my attention to the fresh activity on this thread! Also, many thanks to Coldplay78 for having taken the time to email me directly with the data included in his recent posts, etc. With regards to Coldplays query...

    1812 Birmingham Workhouse Token......

I should possibly have mentioned previously that the farm on which the coin above was discovered is a sizable estate..... though two fields in particular have proven exceptionally 'fruitful' when it comes to finds. Over the entire region, we have discovered everything from a Roman Brooch to...
