    Mom thinks it was there, it'd be from around that area as that's where they lived, it's a great pic and moms cousin has a wicked quiff so i'm assuming it was taken in the 60's.. i'm at moms tomorrow i'll see if i can upload them then :)

    Lyn i found a great pic of my Nan on wash day, she has brown paper tied over her shoes and front of her legs with string ... mom said it was to stop the suds getting over you, anyone else remember their moms doing this?

    Whilst going threw my Nans things I found two brass plaques, I think they are from WW2 but can't be sure, the first is engraved with the Coldstream Guards Emblem and has the Name Freeman - B 23907729..... the second is engraved with the Scots Guard Emblem and J Newsham 2695609, I'd like to find...

    I've just found a school report for my Grandad for Burberry Street dated July 1939, he'd have been about 15, seems he was quite a scholar, it's signed by what looks like C A Swayne Class Teacher and A C Locke? Head Teacher, it's very torn and worn, hopefully we can save it :) did anyone go there...

    Thanks Mike, well that's a turn up for the books, never thought she'd have had a job like that, but then she was an enterprising woman from what i have been told, still can't find her 1901 census tho for Handsworth, strange :stare:

    Hmmmm that is very interesting Mike, thanks for looking that up (hopefully someone will know what a Burgess is) , it must be her, as she is in Brearley Street in 1920 so her moving from there would fit, she was born 1883 so by 1913 she'd have been eligable to vote so should show from then...

    Shera it was St Phillips, have just checked marriages on freebmd and it was for 1859 so it is correct for the entry on the IGI
