    hospital Street which is still there I think ran parallel to Gt Russel St. Gt Russel St ceased to exist but Hospital Stree was not renamed and remains there . My Dad worked at Newmans in that Street.

    Where were RC's buried, particularly the large Newtown Irish families. My G G Grandad patrick crowe of Tower St we have his death cert but can't find where he was buried. Someone suggested New Oscott but they said no.

    Lindev, Hi Mrs Jones (my nan) was married twice, pearl was her stepdaughter, now married to Councillor Mike Bird leader of Walsall Council, and my step cousin. My Mom was Lil Fowkes, and my Uncle Gerard who was an Arnhem hero has just had his 93rd birthday.

    Lyn, looks to me that it was about 1965-56 just before they were pulled down. some of the houses are derelict and there is a Foed Anglia if I am not mistake. Walked down that road many times.

    Not to jump on the nandwagon but I guessed Livery St as well. I too had my first meal at Kam ling (Working at Lucas GHS)....didn't know what to eat so ordered a Curry...found it so hot, didn,t know you had to have rice as well.
