    My Uncle Bill and Aunty Elsie were licencees there in 60's. Some good nights there, family parties etc and a bowling green. brfore that they had the Crown in Aston.

    No sorry I was too young and only really remember first names.....Aunty Rose Aunty Daisy, Mrs Russell. my nan owned the shop opposite frankfort st, and I only visited every week when my mom worked there.

    I lived at 98 Foden from 1948 to 1971. I remember Burdenshaw, Thawley, Burton (Burden). 95 was over the road and down a bit. It is the Foden on the Beeches Rd side. Cant remember Thornhill though.

    Diane, Joe Mercer was Villa manager for a while and had a v. good youth policy. As Matt Busby had his "Busby Babes", so did mercer have his "Minors".

    Mike Tindall was one of "Mercers Minors", half back line, Tindall Sleeuwenhoek(sic) Deakin (Captain), all u23 internationals, brilliant line up.

    Hanna, I'm a Foden Rd Boy. Shops up the road, next to Moyle and Adams was Rodens, the papershop, then Wimbushes, then a haberdashery shop, then the fruit shop who were owned by Pitts at one stage, then there was the fish and chip shop. My nan lived at 71 perrywood rd.

    My Dad's local was "The Alma". and don't forget Kettelby famous composer "In a persian Market" "Bells across the meadow" born in Alma St.

    Wasn't Booth (Good for Quiz questions) twice caught, twice tried and twice Hanged!!!! I played over there 1n the 1950's and in 60's on motorbikes.

    Doing my family tree and all my one side originate from the Hospital St Leonard st Gt Russel St, Bridge St Triangle. Mike Jenks I have a Jane Moran in Brearley St, and Peter B My dad worked and died at Newman Tonks and his best friend AQlbert (I forget his surname" died there too.

    Used to play "Over the Brook" which is what we called the old gravel pits near Boothes Farm. Of course everyone knows its famous history of William Booth the forger. The gravel pits were a paradise for kids. Had a friend worked at the fruit shop after Williams sold out.

    My Great Gran jane Moran lived in Brearley St. She married Michael Crowe and was a nasty as she looks. Evidently the her family were in the Taxi or transport business and she owned a number of properties,

    Surely your all wrong and it isn't the rag market any more as the council or develpoers decided that "The Rag Market" doesn't sound sexy enough. Isnt it ST martins Market or something now. Oh and please remember tthat it isnt "THE bullring" any more its "BULLRING". God bless our Glorious Council...

    Rosens on Lozells Rd was a good old fashioned jeweller. I believe owner retired 3 years ago. My mom and dad married in the church near 6 ways
