The manager (Albert or Arthur) at the time used to bang on the bottom of the screen and threaten to turn off the film unless we behaved ourselves on Saturday morning, ha ha the good old days.
When I was about 12 in Cromwell street school, the caretaker would open the playground in the holidays for us to play football, after the holidays I had 6 of the best most times for climbing on the roof to retrieve the ball.
My favourite was Cranes in Corporation street, independent booths where you could get records from the assistant and take them to a booth and play them before choosing, later there was The Diskery in Hurst street, great days.
