I know Holy Cross Church and can remember it before the Community Centre was bulit on the side. There used to be a 'wooden hut' used for meetings before that. I can only remember the hut and car park, no grave stones but, maybe, they were there before then. I can only go back about 20 years...

    Workhouse records

What do the records tell you? Is there any more information than on a death certificate? My great grandfather died in August 1930 at 18 Union Road, Erdington, which , I believe was the 'infirmary'. He isn't on any electoral role and the last address I have for him, before 1930, is on the 1901...

    Workhouse birth

My great grandfather died in 1930. The address given on the death certificate was 18 Union Road which we have been led to believe was connected with the 'workhouse'. If this is the case then the road name must have changed after 1930. g..

    Yardley cemetery

The second photo actually shows the area where my great grandfather was buried and, if it was taken in 1930s, was taken just after he was buried.

    Yardley cemetery

I went to Yardley Cemetery with the name and date of death of my great grandfather and they were able to tell me exactly where he was buried and show me where the site was on a map. They were very helpful.

    Vinegar Salad

Oh I remember 'sing something simple' ( I can still hear the song in my head). Our Sunday evening routine was bath, 'Sing Something Simple' on the radio, tea then bed. I must make it again, hope I'm not disappointed, sometimes things are much better if left as a memory.
