    We drive past this every day, going to the woods off wood lane. The monument looks much taller than the one in the photo, was it taken before it was moved? The date is actually 13th June 1895.

    Houghton John

    Re: John Houghton I found a John Houghton,aged 30, who died in 1903. His death was recorded in Chorlton, Lancashire in the June Qtr of 1903. That seems to be the only one that is about the right age.

    The Valley Pub used to be on the Yardley Wood Road next to Chinn Brook and those playing fields, I wonder if this was a reference to the Happy Valley area?

    I've found it, its called Bella Brum by Doreen Hopwood and Margaret Dilloway, foreward by Carl Chinn. I have relatives with Italian ancestry so I am particularly interested in this as well. Good luck with your research. :)

    St Benedict

    I thought there was a St Benedicts Church on Hob Moor Road, at the junction of St Benedicts road. Its quite close to Green lane and would be classed as Borsdesley/Small Heath. This one was a C of E church. We used to go there every Christmas for the School Carol Concert, from Waverley Grammar...

    yardley cemetry

    They are very helpful. They showed us a map which helped us locate the area but couldn't pinpoint the exact place. It is now covered by lawns with a mature tree next to it so we use the tree as the 'marker'.

    My great grandad is buried at Yardley cemetry in a public grave, I think they called it a common grave. Although it is unmarked, they were able to tell us roughly where it was.

    I think the blame lies squarely with the ones that drive too fast and run from the police. We should support the poice and those that enforce the law, IMO.
