    Used to cover for my mate when he went on holiday so about three weeks a year in total. A temp really used to be paid 21 shillings an old guinea. Sunday papers with the extra supplements meant if you rode a bike you had to get the balance right .

    I wish i was a spaceman ( great tune) . Yes i remember the Anglia van to small as you said just sold wafers and ice lols. Could not do the chopped nuts now as people with nut allergies. Just glad iam not allergic to ice cream strawberry sauce . Yes even the cones were oblong shape to fit the ice...

    Great picture those are the Mr Whippy ice cream vans i remember. The knack of working machine and getting the ice cream to twirl around into that lovely shape then sticking a flake in it. Lovely jubbly fancy a Jubbly anyone.

    No problem in those days . Not so much traffic on the roads and you would be concentrating on eating your 99. No power steering vehicle rolling around the corners oh the joys. Those ice cream men risked their lives to bring joy to us kids .
