    Hi i was born in Langley road Small heath 1944. moved to arthur terrace off arthur road Hay Mills in 1948. lived in Denham Road Acocks Green from 1957 till moving to Hall Green in 1984 moved to Warton a small village in North Warwicks 16 years ago.

    Yes we made a lot of things at christmas, paper chains and things for the tree, cheap and nasty they would say today but i loved them and enjoyed making them. regards Podgery

    Hi berniew thanks for that they are a great set of pics, but i still can't work out where the toll house was. i must be thick or suffering memory loss but in my memory there was the tavern then the road to the church and then the bridge over the river, so i know we are talking a long time ago...

    Yes Nijinski, i started my drinking life at the Speedwell were i drank m&b mild. When i change pubs i couldn't get on with the mild at the Great Western so i changed to the bitter and have drunk it ever since.

    In the early 60's and before, the Great Western pub in Acocks Green sold it's Brew X1 from a tank fab pint.
