    Hi Mike my wife had exactly the same record player, i thought it was great because you could put more than one record on at a time. Was there ever anything more exciting than listening to Little Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis in full flow. I doubt we will hear anything like it again.

    Frankie Lymon jerry lee lewis we may be getting on but we still remember the good things. I love the 60s music but you are right the 50s was the start of rock ect.

    Hi my memories of music in the 50s was the juke'box in the local cafe. I love music but can't play it but we would congregate in the cafe and listen to the likes of Billy Fury, Elvis, Tommy Steel, ect, with our milk shakes. Great memories.

    Hi Astonian sorry some how i missed this post, you are quite right it was 1962 when i holidayed in Margate and my first encounter with hippies. We used to go to the dreamland ballroom and there was a few who used it at the time.I remember the name beatnix but can't really say i can remember...

    Hi nico i went on holiday to Margate in the early 50s that was were i first saw a hippie my first impression was weird but they were great fun.

    Booths Gin In the 40s 50s and 60s Booths was the Gin most people bought. I like a G&T but can no longer get Booths

    Yes rosie i think they were pigeon peas, i used to hide my pea-shooter in the out side toilet because if mom found it i would have been in trouble, and the pea-shooter would have been in the bin.

    Yes the Christmas gift pack was one of my favourites I loved cheap chocolate. Can you remember the cheap chocolate Easter eggs don't seem to be on sale now.

    Does anybody remember the chewing gum machines where there was a mark on the knob and one on the caseing, when these marks lined up you would get two pakets of gum for your penny.

    Hi Viviennel, I to learnt to write with a dipping pen. The blotting paper, the ink on my fingers and whoops my shirt collar thanks for the great memories.

    Your right Astonian the eagle was way ahead with it's technology but we are catching up Ha Ha. My mother thought the Eagle was a load of rubbish but you can't please everyone. Regards Podgery

    The 40's and the 50's was all about the radio to me(no tv till 1959) loved Dick Barton and yes listen with mother.
