    The Adelphi in Hay Mills was my cin'ema i had to do shoppingfor my mother so i could earn a tanner for my entrance money i did a neighbours shopping for the threepence it cost for my ice loll, but i would not miss the ABC Minors for the world.     Hi Jim yes i do remember cadburys chocolate boxes with pictures on they looked great my mother used to cut them out and use them for pictures round the house you dont see this anymore i suppose it's down to cost.

    My mother used the word lugs often when brushing my sisters hair, and i used it when brushing my daughters hair. yes i think it's a brummie word.

    Hi Phil Great photo's i really enjoyed the trip down the cov road especially Hay Mills. When we came to Redhill road i was suprised that the redhill tavern wasn't there, I wonder when it was built? i have always thought it was pre victoria, thats how much i know.

    Thanks for the memories Phil. In the late 40s and early 50s mom used to drag me to small heath (cov road) to do the shopping. After seeing these Photo's it seems like yesterday.

    hi as anyone got any old photos of Haymills I live in Arthur Terrace off Arthur Road from 1948 to 1957 the terrace was knocked down in the 60s. I have searched the web for photos taken in the 40s and 50s, but to no avail. Can you help.
