    I worked for a chap who got a contract from the council to do certain repairs to houses in Varna road. It was 1964 and these repairs had to be done so there was quite a few buiders ect with these contracts. We went into one house where the floors had to be relayed (they where concrete floors)...

    Hi i worked in Varna road doing property repairs for the council in the early 60s. The thing i most remember of the place were the rats, every house we went into there was signs of them. I was really scared of going to work.

    Hi all, does anyone remember the coal yard in Haymills? I think it was in Deakins road, but i can't place where. I remember having to fetch coal in an old pram when we ran out unexpectedly,and that always seemed to happen when the snow was on the ground.

    Hi just got back from a short holiday in the lake district. Yes even though the houses were old and a bit run down the kids always had there sunday best to wear and there homes were kept neat and tidy in the main.

    Hi all. I had this drawing done from my memory two years ago.It is a drawing of redhill and arthur terrace as i remember it in the early fifties,it's not quite right but it's pretty close. I must say what a great thread this is, the pics are great thanks a lot for all those that have posted.

    Hi Astonian I lived in Arthur terrace for about nine years, i went to redhill school then on to bierton road. I have been searching for photos of the terrace but up till now i only have the two i think cameras were a luxury when i was a kid.
