Thanks for your post, and it is indeed sad to see the demise of the Highway. When I drank there, it had been recently refurbished approx 1975-85. It was a lovey pub than with an excellent restaraunt which was seperated from the lounge bar, as to afford the diners their own bar. Having said that...

I agree, that Landlords should use their imaginantion. Where else in the world, would you sit down to have a meal, and have to get up and queue at the bar to get a drink, whilst your meal goes cold. Everywhere else you can get served at your table. More often than not the staff standing around...

If I remember correctly it was Darby's, then M&B. The pub opposite the New Inns, then The Newton, was Ansells. John, I used to drink there in the 60's, what was your Dad's name?
