    Stockland Green

Always remember Ernie telling me not to buy the commercial bottled oil, guess you know why.

    Stockland Green

I started in 1964 and left in 1967. Were you at Stockland green or a Short Heath road ? My Mate Ernie Marsden worked part time on the Stockland Green pumps, unfortunately lost touch in the early seventies. Sorry just re read your post re Shortheath road, I used to chassis wash the coaches...

    FLIGHT's Coaches

I remember a chap called Ronnie Allan when he worked for Allenways if I remember correctly, very dapper and often seen with a rolled up brolly. One Driver that worked for Stocklands had moved from Flights, a regular occurrence in those days, his name was Cliff Richards known as Mgeeve what a...

    FLIGHT's Coaches

My PSV ran out in 1978 but I took my PCV in 1998 after I'd taken early retirement in 1996. Had my C+E by grandfather rights but both now gone as never took the medical when I reached 70. Sorry to hear about your Dad and Vic and your heart attack.

    FLIGHT's Coaches

Colin went back down the pit, a job he'd done when he was younger, unfortunately he was in an accident when one of the trucks hit him underground. He never worked after and coped with his injuries extremely well.

    FLIGHT's Coaches

Thanks for the info. My BIL had a small coach company in Coleshill back in the seventies, excessive overheads and complying with legislation resulted in closure, very sad.

They Were Caught In Our Old Street Pics...

No still no bar in the photo wether it's been said before or not, wether it's a Rolls or a Morris is immaterial. I am referring to post 2775 incidentally.

I think the bar you mention is just a shadow, enlarging the photo doesn't then show a bar.

She was good in Scrooge with Alastair sim, something we watch every Christmas.

    1960s cars

I'd say that most of my mileage is taken up with 2 mile journeys, Grandkids to School and the weekly supermarket trips. The engine barely gets warm and I always have the aircon running, add the use of electrics including lights and wipers as it's rarely stopped raining recently, then low 20's...

    1960s cars

I've got the CVT transmission on my Nissan Qashqai 1.6 petrol. Had autos for many years and driven semi autos and fully auto's on PCV's. As a very low mileage user, 2500 miles per annum, I find that the fuel consumption is very poor at 21 mpg, also the noise when accelerating hard is very...

    Birmingham buses

When I drove for First Cornwall back in the early 2000 if the almex ticket machine was missing they would give you a setright to use. I'd never used one or been shown how to so everyone got a free ride.
