Ryland Garage was where I started in 1960. Great thing was you were trained in commercial vehicles as well as cars which certainly helped with my future career as a PSV/HGV mechanic.

No sorry, my visits were early sixties to an engine overhauling company.

Even worse when you had to take the engine out to get the sump off. My first job as an apprentice mechanic was to change the engine oil and filter on an F type Vauxhall victor, long story short after I’d ripped the sump plug out the foreman and welder worked all night to remove engine, weld up...

If you were really lazy you could use a drill with the stem of the valve clamped in the chuck only thing was you needed to keep changing the paste. Our Foreman used to check our work when overhauling Gardner engines by pouring Kerosene in the ports, any leaks from the valves and you started again.

Can’t say I enjoyed grinding in the valves on a side valve as overhead were much easier including setting the valve clearance.

    Perry Park

We always knew Perry hall park as Perry Hall playing fields and Perry Barr park as Perry Barr park, the sign in Perry Avenue said Perry Hall playing fields. We lived a few hundred yards from the entrance from 1945 until 1970 and never called it Perry Hall park.

Dewsbury Grove has gone the same way, I left in 1970 and viewing on Google earth really shows how times have changed. I always parked in the road but see double yellows have invaded.

My Brother in Law worked for the parks dept at Brookvale park in the seventies and ended up as a supervisor looking after all the displays on the roundabouts etc. Rented one of the two cottages in Pype Hayes park before buying it then moved to Perth Scotland.

    Covid vaccination process

My Sister who lives in Solihull got the same letter but her nearest point was Balsall Heath which she couldn’t get to. She’s been told that if she ignores the letter her local surgery will be doing the jab shortly.

    Covid vaccination process

I inject Fragmin daily but no mention of any warning card for that, they just ask me when I get my fortnightly immunotherapy and three monthly Hormone injection If I’m on thinners.

    Canals of Birmingham

Never got over the excitement I felt when out fishing on the Canal at Tower Bridge and you heard the put put of the single cylinder petter engine.

    Amazon computers and printers

We buy a LOT from Amazon and I mean a lot. We have Prime membership which is very useful but most things are more expensive which I expect covers the postage. What does annoy me is the battle you have when receiving faulty or incorrect goods and they need returning, unfortunately I am unable...

    Covid vaccination process

Thanks Astoness but post 23 was the one I was referring to. I was wandering if the yellow card meant these were some form of warning that the health services would recognise.

    Covid vaccination process

Could I ask what the yellow card was related to as I have a yellow card for my immunotherapy treatment and also take injectable blood thinners daily. Thanks

    Covid vaccination process

Doubt if anything to do with the vaccine but my Son in Laws relation passed away three days ago after having the Covid vaccine and as a precaution a postmortem is being carried out. At 97 years of age I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t normally have been the case but it goes to show how cautious the...
