    Items that have faded away

I don't know if this is the right section for this. does anyone remember the big old machines in a big glass case usually in railway stations. You would put an old penny in the slot, type something on the keys and watch the penny get flattened and print out what you typed. I believe they have...

    Teen Culture

I was at school during the mods and rockers time. The kids at our school used to go around saying to other kids are you a mod or a rocker? If you said mod, they would say rocker and punch you. I guess it had a lot to do with the brighton punch up

Golden Age of Steam or dirty age- Birmingham Mail

Hi jennyann, I think there was a programme on that subject on bbc3 or 4 I. Caught apart about sending the flying scotsman to the knackers yard to be stripped and the efforts by railway enthusiasts to save her. A millionaire bought it at the last minute and it was sold from one millionaire to...

    Occupations That Have Faded Away

While researching my wife's ancestry I noticed a number of men in her family tree were called puddlers. I had to find out what that was. Puddling is the occupation of making iron. It is the process of turning pig iron into wrought iron with a reverberating furnace. I guess pig iron is another...

    The village

Hi mike, watched the village, worth watching. It was set around the first world war. It had one of the very first midland red single decker motorised buses with a canvas roof. Very stylish back then. It was strange seeing the children using chalk boards for their lessons. Shocked. To see a boy...

    Items that have faded away

Does anybody remember the v2000 video recorder and the betamax recorder. I thought the v2000s were very stylish compared to the old vhs recorders back then, it's a pity they never took off

    The Pelham

Me and the missus had a v2000 video recorder and we used to go to the video shop over the railway bridge from the pelham. It was the only video shop in the area that rented out v2000 video films.
