    My Mom worked in the England's shop in the Seventies, it changed to Lennards later on. I'm sure the City Arcade was derelict and boarded up mid Seventies.

    My parents had their wedding reception in the White Swan Legge Street in 1950. I found this shot and I think it must be Aston Road as Legge Street ran behind it. There's a sign on building that gives direction up the alley to pub. Can anyone confirm this is Aston Road?

    Yes it was Finefare, there was one at the Scott Arms opened later on. I think the car park entrance was next to the Perry Barr Fine Fare, a very dingy hole it was.

    That part of Hockley is nearly all council property built in the late sixties, some of it is still decent. There's a sheltered housing complex virtually next door. The Jewelry qtr has seen an increase in apartment type property but they're not overly priced...

    If it wasn't for Tescos Spring Hill Library wouldn't have lasted this long as mentioned before they kind of saved it by helping with refurbishment costs and won an award for their work, Tescos are no mugs and if it was dead around there they wouldn't have built it. I've visited a couple of times...

    Wow that's a long time ago, i'm only familiar with the not too distant past. Perhaps there was some connection between the two pubs at one time having the same name and just a couple of streets away and all.

    Doe Street was near Coleshill Street but the Duke Of York was in Duke Street Gosta Green, i think there's a shot of it on the site somewhere before demolition but can't find it. My family used it.
