    Where did you live

I had a lot of pals from Cotteridge school who lived in Shirley,Heathcote and Dell Roads. One of them Gareth Fewings, lived in the first house past the school playground. We were still pals and used to still meet up during the 60's.The meeting point used to be Mrs.Turners shop on the corner of...

    Super Oil Seals Ltd c1930

I have confused you Aiden I did not work at Super Oil Seals but on the factory centre. When I knew the factories of Super Oil Seals they were not on the junction of Lifford Lane but some way into the centre.Current maps of the area show Melchett Road as a straight road through the centre, when S...

    Super Oil Seals Ltd c1930

Hi Aiden I used to work on Kings Norton factory centre as it was once called and the company was called Super Oil Seals and Gaskets in the late 60's and through the 70's. It was on Melchett Road, the main road through the centre from Pershore Road South to Lifford Lane. They occupied quite a...

    60**

I'm afraid I dont know how to access that information db it was just a web page I copied but clicking on what I thought might bring up another page had no effect. I did read that the streamlining over the cylinders was removed fairly quickly due to overheating problems.I have to agree with you...

    60**

I have seen some drawings of streamlining it did not amount to much, nothing like a semi, sorry Princess Coronation class but you are indeed correct it was 6014 that was streamlined and I have found this piece on it, no pictures i'm afraid. King class (60XX): 1927: Collett: The "King" class...

    Birmingham Skyline

I think 8 is this Auchinleck House and 9 is this Broadway tower above Tesco and where Horizon holidays office used to be years ago. It could also be another distorted view of Tricorn Tower and Broadway tower.

    Birmingham Skyline

Well Dek I am not a million miles from you but I am a Bournville lad born and bred and lived there until I was transported to the north side 30 years ago. There are more flats situated between Bristol and Pershore Roads between Priory Rd and Belgrave Middleway. If you look to the right of the Uni...

    Birmingham Skyline

I'm around Kings Norton, Bournville, Wythall aresa this afternoon so I will go armed with camera and see if I can spot number 12 but with the zoom lens distortion it may not be in front of the Uni. The nearest High rise flats apart from Metchley Lane would probably be Wickets and Century Towers...

    Birmingham Skyline

Would you think that all the four flats in Metchley Lane have been compressed with the zoom lens to what looks like two blocks. In this attachment there are definitely four. Seems like my earlier pic of Bartley Green muddied the waters a little,no pun intended :):)

    Birmingham Skyline

Here are the other four blocks of flats ( see attachment ) by the reservoir they were still there in April 2007 but street views just show wasteland as I said in other post. Dek the mast at Rowley I think has a sort of sphere on it.The two masts on the pic of pollys would be I guess Sutton...

Dont walk too far on Google pollypops it looks like there is only one block remaining and that is the one on its own. Looking at street view the other four show just wasteland grassed over and in places fenced off from the public. That photo was taken in Sept 2006 on film.

I think number 2 is the block of flats that is by Bartley Green reservoir, see attached pic. It is a pic taken pre digital days so lacks some clarity. The pic was taken from the layby opposite Frankley Beeches trees.
