    Some more old slide photos

Might be a silly question Lyn but is it a developed roll of film ? What size is the film as you can usually scan negatives on a flatbed photo scanner. On 35mm it is possible to run those through a slide/negative scanner.

    Summer Lane Pubs

After reading dereklcg's post last weekend regarding the Stags Head showing no sign of life when he visited I decided to take a look for myself today. You can rest assured the Stag was open today but the only entrance was the Brearley St. door. There is opening and closing times on that door but...

    Haseley Hall

It looks like it was an orphanage or similar institution. https://www.sundaymercury.net/news/midlands-news/2010/05/30/former-resident-of-haseley-hall-in-warwickshire-speaks-of-brutal-regime-66331-26549546/

    White Lion Portway

I think it was probably the changing of the times and drinking habits Dek. The breath bag did not have that great an effect as people still drove to pubs and had a few but then the next generation, who did not really know pre breath rest days, tended not to drink and drive and it was then the out...

    White Lion Portway

It might have been because the White Lion was in something of a backwater, no access from the dual carriageway. Two of the other places you mention are better placed being on the main road and the Horse and Jockey has fairly easy access off the A435 but it's surprising the Hollybush on Gorcott...

    White Lion Portway

You have got the location correct dek there was a showroom further along the road from the White Lion and years ago it belonged to Bristol Street Motors who sold and provided aftersales for Fordson tractors.

    Bournville Open Air Lido

Having been a regular visitor to the Rowheath lido in my younger days I was sad to see it go and then the land get developed with a small housing estate. The Lido would have been in the red circled portion of the attached picture.

    Birmingham Trams

My dad used to drive a 36 in the late 1930's so he may have known your dad and grandad, he used to go out at night on the gritting lorry also but I never was awake when he got back home. It was BCT that used to do the gritting as they were council owned, at least if you had a neighbour who was...

    Key Hill pubs

The Post Office is on Hockley Hill and the buildings that you mention are the sorting offices. The entrance to the yard for the P.O.vans was between those buildings and Browns warehouse on Key Hill.

    Key Hill pubs

Thanks for the pics Terry, the two Abbeys were known locally as the big Abbey ( Abbey Vaults ) and little Abbey ( Abbey Tavern ) the little Abbey was only licensed to sell beer, no wines or spirits. It was just behind Nortons on the corner of Key Hill and Icknield St.

    Key Hill pubs

My mother in law kept a couple of pubs in Key Hill, must have been a kiss of death as when she left them both were demolished so if anyone has any pics of the Abbey Tavern or the Little Abbey as it was known and also the Bulls Head on the corner of Key Hill and Icknield St. it would be nice to...

    For all you trainspotters

That was not a trainspotter but the sort of person that gets them a bad name, like getting into trespass areas.

    Wilmott Breeden, Stirchley

I think the name of this brush making concern may have been "Lengs" or something similar.I will contact some of my pals who still live in Cotteridge/Stirchley areas to see if I can confirm this or otherwise.

    Wilmott Breeden, Stirchley

It did indeed change to Rockwell International after Wilmot's closed. It then became Meritor I think after Rockwell, lots of discussion with Tesco,S'bury's etc wanting to develop the site.I have not been along Fordhouse lane for a good while so I am unsure of the sites current state.Unless my...
