The White Horse. New John Street/West

There was a pub that closed and was converted into a cafe and it was on the corner of Hanley St. and Cecil St. the name escapes me but the cafe was called Wraggies Cafe and it was around 1966/7

The White Horse. New John Street/West

I always knew the pub as the White House when I was an apprentice at Turner Bros in the 60's, and after leaving that area I returned to working in Key Hill in the 70's. One of the landlords in the 70's was a NewZealander who previously kept the Florin in Icknield St amongst others.

Rover Spares and Repairs, Stirchley. Former Art-Deco buildings.

Taken from the Cotteridge website. I know Cotteridge pretty well! I was born there. It sits on top of a hill, you go down to Stirchley, down & up to Kings Norton & Bournville, the only time you do go a little higher is towards Northfield. It was a centre of industry, especially during WW2; do...

    Birmingham buses

I like to see references to the old BCT transport, probably due to the fact that my late father worked for them for approx 40 years. he started as a conductor in the early 1930's, eventually becoming a driver then an inspector. His base was Selly Oak and then Harbourne working the 11 route. He...

    Air raid shelters

There used to be a similar structure to that at the junction of Brandwood Park Road and Moneyhull Hall Road and that I was told was the site of an anti aircraft gun, the circular pieces being the housing of the spigots the guns were mounted on...just a thought.

I hope to be in Torbay on the 8th. or 15th. of August to see D of G climb Goodrington bank. Dare I say thanks to 60163's ill fortune we have been treated to a spectacle by a special loco. Colin has left you the link I was posting but as I went to send my comp crashed. I was going to go to Vigo crossing today but gave it a miss due to reports that the local constabulary were going to be active on the B4096 Alcester Road and Hewell Lane, it gets a bit crowded around there when...
