    Television Bank Telebank rental

T.C.Hayes of Bearwood still operate a similar scheme today.I finally convinced my father in law last year that he could have bought a TV station with what he had put in the box on the back of the TV. In the main the sets were a bit crappy too.

    Pines Express 1950's

I am sure your are correct that it was the Pines Express that used to pass through the Birmingham area at lunchtime ( dinner time as we knew it then) I used to see the same train every school day when going back to Cotteridge school for the afternoon session. I don't think it would be the...

    Views About Our Modern Markets

In my experience I believe it is as you say JohnO, that farmers markets are an exception to the rule but I feel it is much the same with a decent farm shop. I travel a round trip of 25 miles on Saturdays that my family before me used, just to know that they are only selling locally sourced...

    Sun ray treament

I used to go to Maas road clinic in Northfield for sun ray treatment. I had an uneven breast bone, the right side being about 1" higher than the left. There still is a slight difference but not noticable. I dont if it was the lamp or just growing up that put things right. Then again it might have...

    Festival of Britain 1951

I think that in a drawer somewhere in this house I have a Crown (5/-) in a red box from the Festival of Britain as far as I can remember it was a couple of good days out. Luckily family had rellies in Pimlico in those days.

Do you want to play glarnies

I remember when I used to play marlies it never cost me and my pals a penny. We were always into steelies. They were easyish for us to get as just over the railway bridge by Kings Norton station was the factory centre and there was a place called BKL Alloys. The was a large area which housed...

    Norton's of Key Hill

I just looked at a new A-Z and the part that shows Key Hill is in the spine of the book so it wont scan. If travelling along the A41 from town towards Hockley Flyover Key Hill is still on the left just before the Post Office and flyover. There is no access from the Icknield St.side as KH is...

    Norton's of Key Hill

There was more departments of Nortons on the opposite side of the road. They can be clearly seen on the photo, two light coloured buildings immediately next to the low wall of the Bulls Head yard and the darker one next to the first two.I worked at a small toolmaking firm which was housed in the...
