    hello alf, my first ever game was also in halford drive, around 59/60. aston boys played some games there in the 60's i think the coach then was a mr edwards, from summer lane school. the captain in those days was, garry pendry who later played for b'ham city.

    mike, i think lucas'es had more than one sports ground in the birmingham area.

    It was kynoch's sports and social club, and backed onto ansells sports ground.

    Jean, the sports shop on witton rd, was owned by dick taylor who was i think was assistant manager at the villa when johnny dixon was caretaker manager, in the mid sixties.

    picture one seems to show the view from the opposite side to picture two, towards saltley, the white building shown between the chimney's and gas holders could be the radiation/johnny wrights thimblemill lane.

    the school shown in the middle one is manor park girls school, you can also see the top of aston church spire, top left.

    the middle one shows victoria rd, vicarage rd,and sycamore rd, the block of flats on the far right was in aston hall rd, the nearer block,i think beale st.
