FAO: Residents of Chelmsley Wood (past and present).

Not sure if you are still around Bradford, or if you are still interested in Chelmsley Wood. Anyway a good friend of mine was the Youth Leader at The Forum Youth Club for a number of years, this would have been in the mid 1970's. I used to spend time there helping him as I lived very close.

    King Kong

I am sure that there is a thread somewhere about King Kong but I can't find it. Anyway I remember the original "piece of artwork" when it was in the Bull Ring Centre and then at a car sales yard out on Moseley Road somewhere. I am sure members asked if anyone knew where the original had gone...

    Midland Red to Wales

I have been looking at the Wikipedia site of the Midland Red and it doesn't look as if they did operate in South Wales. North Wales, yes, as we used to go to Rhyl by Midland Red Coach from Digbeth.

I can only find a Frederick Tyrrell living at 44 Adderley Road in 1965. He was living there alone unless he had children younger than 21 living with him. This is on Ancestry.

Mr Gawthorpe was my dentist. He was a very nice man and did a lot of filling of my teeth!. Do you remember the "boutique" that was just up the road a bit that was owned by one of the Birmingham City Footballers?

Dentistry past and present in Brum

Did anyone have to go to the School Dentist? I remember going to Sheep Street once. All I remember is the big leather chair, the gas mask and a row of sinks with all these children spitting out blood! After that experience I think it was a hood 10 years before I found wonderful dentist near...

    Lost grandparents

I see you have quite a lot of info on Ancestry so am sure you have seen the various census returns. It is possible that your grandparents could have been cremated with a service held at the Parish Church. Was your Grandfather married previously to Martha who died in 1899?

Was Gillian's sister called Marvis? Gillian was younger that Mavis. There were three sisters, Carol (I think - the oldest) Mavis, in my class and then Gillian. They lived in Adderley Road. Can't think of a Rachel but if we are talking about the same family and Rachel was a friend of...

I didn't live in Gladys but one of the teachers at my school did. Also wasn't the Doctor's surgery on the corner of Gladys and Coventry Roads? I used to live at number 1009 Coventry Road. It was a small terraced cottage owned my Mitchells and Butlers. Demolished in 1975 for the supermarket...

    Sheldon Memories

The only "park" I can think of would be Small Heath Park. That is on a bus route along the Coventry Road. But there is also Elmdon Park, there is a pond there and it is down a slope, depending on which way you approach it. Again, that is off Coventry Road in the other direction to Small...
