Where did you find that he advertised for work, was it in the UK?. It looks like there may have been more than one James Moxham...

Are you sure he was born in Birmingham? If he was a sailor, Birmingham is a long way from the sea!

    St Chads Cathedral

In the early 1970's my husband used to volunteer at St. Chad's in the crypt which housed "down and outs" (or as we called them "tramps). These people would be allowed to sleep there for a night and were also fed soup and bread. There was not such a problem with so many people living on the...

Back to Back House at The Gate, Saltley

This house didn't have an attic. It was pretty grim. The little boy who lived there used to be fostered by my mom and dad but when his mom (and her latest boyfriend) got this house, he went back to live with them. It was just before Christmas I went to visit as I took Christmas presents. My...

Back to Back House at The Gate, Saltley

I haven't seen any posts relating to these houses, possibly as you would know know they were back to back from the front as they just looked like a terrace of houses with the front door coming straight onto the pavement. They were on the left side at the end of Addrerley Road near the Gate. I...

Possible death reg for Nancy House Dec. qtr. 1918, Birmingham age 64 Just realised that the children with MMN Vaughan are your grandfathers, not your great grandfathers. Have you seen the 1871 census entry for Nancy Tizard, living with parents in Bradford Peverell, Dorset, age 16 born about 1855.

Have you seen the 1911 census records for Clara and William Alfred House? Both single and both born in Reading. Could they be brother and sister or other relative? Was William (William's son b. 1919) born in Dorset? Just looking for them all on the 1939 register. Frederick Tizzard House and...

There is a birth registration for a William Charles House Sept. 1858 in S. Stoneham. This is in Hampshire. Not sure what county Reading was in in 1926 as it is Berkshire now, which is next to Hampshire. Have you got his birth certificate?

I went to a funeral about three weeks ago for a Tullet. Although this was in Cambridge and the family came from Norfolk, not sure if all of them did. Wonder if there is a connection? Perhaps you could give us a little more info. ie. was your father's name Tullett, what was his first name? I...

    Blundell

The cinema that used to be in Green Lane became Blundells that sold everything. My mom worked as a cleaner at the cinema and when it closed she was given the curtains which were made of gold velvet. We used to go to Blundells a lot. If I remember they operated on a scheme where you could pay...

    The Pearsall Family

I have found a death registration for Ethel Ogle, age 39 in March 1930. Birmingham. I wonder if the Ethel mentioned is the daughter not the wife. Although there is another reg in Aberconwy in 1983 showing a birth date of 25 Jan 1902.

    The Pearsall Family

No sign of ethel on the 1911 census, only Joseph, Ada Herbert & Marion, plus a cousin. There is a birth registration for an Ethel in Aston in December 1900, not her as mother's maiden name is Edwards. I found the marriage reg for Ethel and Wallace. In 1939 Wallace was living at 18 Algernon Rd...

I used to live in the first of Brewery Cottages, the Council rehoused us in Chelmsley Wood due to the cottages being demolished. The row of cottages were almost next door to the Congregational Church and just round from Webster and Horsfall.
