"Frogspawn" Still hated after all these years!!!!

Our chocolate concrete was always served with bright green mint custard. Mom was a dinner lady at school and her friend who is now in her 80's was the cook, despite the fact that she is nearly blind, she can still reproduce all the old school puddings. Sue

    Films About The Bull Ring

Great film thanks Brumgum - totally opposite to Viv and like you Brumgum the Bullring meant home to me - although I lived in Tamworth - the markets were full of people to watch and the sounds and smells of the markets were enthralling, even the fish market, as I went through to get the bus home...

And some pride in turning out something useful - the same if you made your own clothes. Spitfire at Moira today

It was a lovely day, the day was based at the Moira Furnce, a 19th century blast furnace with it's own museum and canalside walks. Despite the fact it is only 15 miles away I hadn't been before and will definitely be going again taking mom and dad with me! The Spitfire was brilliant though, so...

    Make do and Mend

Poihipi, post 16 reminds me of clearing hubbys nans house out - there were piles of papers, folded bags, bags of folded rags , all tied up with lengths of old stockings! There was enough Betterware stuff to set up a stall, we think she felt guilty if she didn't order anything! As well as that...

    Make do and Mend

Mom and nan were thrifty and used to recycle the wool from jumpers and make my dresses. Mom still is and always has whatever item the grandchildren need for their projects, yet her house is much tidier than mine. I also keep the buttons from worn out clothes, which are usually cut into rags...

    Julia Varley

She is a really interesting person , I only know about her because Katy had to do a project on Suffragettes for school and wanted a lesser known one, as Julia Varley did a lot of wok in Birmingham, with Cadburys, although she was born in Bradford, that's who she studied. There are some...
