    It was like that at Green Lane baths, the woman used to lever to put the Hot water in. and you could turn the cold tap. The woman was also strict on how long you had in the bath, I remember shouting over the partition to my mate, and being told to “Get on with your bath” Nick

    Re: the peaky blinders My father remembered the peaky blinders as he lived in Small Heath, When the Teddy Boys started in the 5o’s he used to say “we had gangs like that the peaky blinders” he also told me where the ‘Teds’ had drainpipe trousers, the PB had pieces of velvet let in to theirs...

    Peter thanks for the reply, we don't have any pictures of him, and sadly the 1914 Star was stolen in a house robbery. We do have his 'Small' book also his mobilization papers, and notification of his death, would be happy to send pictures of them if you're interested. Nick

    We had those type of washing up tanks in Catterick, water was boiling hot, I remember dropping my knife & fork in, and having to go back latter to collect them, easy to recognize them, had my last four stamped on them. 7009 :courage:

    Just came across this and read it through again, really describes the trip to Town, just one minor 'slip up' Jim, in you first line you say Quote "Alighting the 53 bus at stechford on our journey to the City Centre" Jim, if you were alighting you'd have been getting off the bus. :courage: Nick
