    Whitehouse family Swan Village

Thank you Viv, 1863 maybe too early, as the will I have of Joseph Whitehouse in which he mentions the houses, is dated 1882, and he is still waiting to receive money from Thomas' will seems a long wait from 1863 to 1882. But I will keep it in mind just in case. Thank for your time and interest.

    Whitehouse family Swan Village

Hi MWS, The only reason I thought Thomas died around the late 1870 early 1880s is that in the will of Joseph Whitehouse made in 1882 which I have, Joseph said his uncle Thomas was deceased, and that he still had not yet received his share of Thomas' will, so I thought it was reasonable to...

    Whitehouse family Swan Village

Thank you pjmburns for the info, I will look into it further but it maybe too early, I have already had a quick look at, Find a will Gov.uk, but until until I am certain exactly when Thomas Whitehouse died I could be clutching at straws. But thank you again for your advice.

    Whitehouse family Swan Village

Can anyone help with advice please, on where I can find who owned house's in Swan Village, West Bromwhich circa 1870-80s. I have a will in 1883 of Joseph Whitehouse born 1813, who said he was left a share of house's and land property in the will or codicil of his deceased uncle, Thomas...

    whitehouse family

Still with the Whitehouse family. The father of John Whitehouse the landlord of The White Lion, Portway, was Joseph Whitehouse, a farmer from Rowley Regis, Blackheath. has anyone any information or pictures about a farm in that area called Fold Farm, circa 1876, where the Whitehouse's lived?

Whitehouse family from Rowley Regis pre 1812.

I have started again after many years, to trace my wife's family tree, the Whitehouse family in Rowley Regis & Blackheath, I visited the Smethwick record library many years ago but the parish records there for St Giles Rowley Regis do not start before 1812. I know they are held at Sandwell...

    Hacketts of Blackheath.

Not sure if there is a connection, but this is my wife's connection to the Hackett's. Joseph Hackett m Martha Willetts in 1791 in Clent. They had a son Joseph in 1802, he married Mary Danks in 1826, then he married Mary Ann Millington in 1842 (I assume Mary nee Danks had died not looked yet)...

    Fisher & Ludlows factory

I just caught a message about Fisher & Ludlow on this forum but I can't now find it on this forum. It showed a photo of the snooker team which included my father Harold Burnett. He started at Fisher &Ludlow when it was in Bradford Street when he was 15 in 1930 and worked there until he retired...

    Hacketts of Blackheath.

Every little bit of information is very helpful as I now live in Devon and can't get to Smethwick record office anymore. I don't have, at present, Ancestry, I only use Familysearch, so any advice or info from everyone on this forum is greatly received. There is a Hackett Street in Blackheath I...

    Hacketts of Blackheath.

Thank you for your reply. I assume the Knights Quest is the name now of the old George and Dragon. I did visit the Knights Quest some years ago, and was surprised it was nothing like the old George and Dragon. I have a photo of the original George and Dragon taken in the 1800's when Joseph was...

    Hacketts of Blackheath.

Thank you for your replies Pedrocut. Joseph Hackett died in 1874 so I assume as you do that it was after he died. Joseph Hackett had a son William so there is a chance that it could be him that took over the George and Dragon. I will look into that further. I have a photo of the pub in the 1800s...

    Hacketts of Blackheath.

Thanks for your info Thank you for your info Pedrocut. I had read the story about that mine but I am not sure its the same Joseph Hackett although it seems too much of a coincidence to have two Joseph Hackett's owning coalmines. The reason I am not sure is that my Joseph Hackett died in early...

    Hacketts of Blackheath.

Once again MWS you have solved a question for me. I started many years ago to trace my wife's family but got so involved with my own that I left it alone until now. Some years ago I visited the Hackett family memorial in Rowley Regis church yard and it had his mothers name as Martha Buffrey...

    Hacketts of Blackheath.

I have started tracing my wife's family history, so now looking for any information on Joseph Hackett born 1802, Dudley, landlord of The George & Dragon in Blackheath/Rowley Regis, from 1834-1873. He was also a coal master, owning coalmines in same area. His daughter Louisa married John...
