    That's about where I have a vague memory of a sweet shop a sweet shop too Annie perhaps they have been renumbered there was a tobacconist around there too and an outdoor on the corner of Charles Road

    Can't be of much help Amanda but this is the present 324 Green Lane next to on the corner shop on Palace Road I don't remember a sweet shop there . I did a paper round at Wards too Annie for a couple of years till early 1964 , the only other person I can remember working in the Candy shop was...

    Thanks for all your help folks Clarkson Street ran parallel with Dartmouth Street from Richard Street to Heneage Street as John said it seems to have been renamed in the 1939 map seems to be Adams Street The first map is 1880

    It might be Phil all the other big houses are on the maps I have but I don't know what they looked like 1912 is quite late for the area which was quite built up by then so that is one of the few remaining options .
