    One of the jobs that I had, working for William Bloye the sculptor in the 1950s was repairing WW2 bombing damage to the Cornices in stately homes in Birmingham. Plaster of Paris, broken and chipped very intricate work

    I know there were Barrage balloon and aircraft gun sights on Church Rd and Harvey Rd across from the school in Yardley during the war I remember seeing them

    I know a while back, several members of the club did a lot of walking hiking, etc, I have often wondered just where the Athletic part came from. Was the club involved with football or cricket at one time? Huh John B?

    Long gone shops

    In the 1940s 1950s, Living on Moat Lane, in Yardley Brum26 Mom would shop every day, at the stores down the street from us. Fresh everything every day, NOW going a GOOGLE street view, the very same stores are now houses, shops all gone. Of course, Tesco or some such not far away.

    Simpson family (Jack, former boxer from 1940s)

    "Jack Simpson" was a great cyclist with the Midland C&AC (Huh BISH!) But think he was from Yorkshire. He and his wife had a cafe on the Cov Rd we would meet at by Elmdom A/P Real nice chap I even beat him a couple of time in races

    That was my band, if it was the one in the 1950s we played the Swan and many other pubs around Yardley and Brum Packed then in we did, But after I left in 1957 for the USA I understand another bad used our name
