    Cannon Street

From the look of it they destroyed some nice architecture when Rackhams was built.

    St Mary's Handsworth Graveyard Map

Hi Dick, I used to be in touch with Simon Baddeley who was one of the active members, but haven't heard from him for a while. You could try the church itself for details: Handsworth Rectory, 288 Hamstead Road, Birmingham B20 2RB

    What went into the dustbin?

    Em... am I missin' summat - I can't see Len's photos.

    What went into the dustbin?

Still posh though, innit? I recall the words "Keep away plague" being inscribed on the outside wall of our house in Wellington Street. I have no idea when it was painted as it was there for as long as anybody could remember. The amazing thing being that anyone in Winson Green could spell "plague".

    What went into the dustbin?

Your nan lived in a posh place, didn't she Jean? You'd be lucky to see a wall like that with all the bricks in down our end.

    Strange Request

You've got it Lyn. In fact I s'pose if it's burnt out, so long as none of the experts on here study it, it won't necessarily have to be a Brum bus. I can mess with it a bit to look the part. Thanks for your help.

    Strange Request

Strewth! seems I've opened up a right can of worms here. Knowing nothing about buses, it amazes me how you folks can glean so much information from that shot! Was WMPT around as far back as 1953? Astoness, as the attached of it in Newhall Street is the best I've come up with so far, I...

Thanks Di, Might need a bit of "Photoshopping" :headhit: to get what I want but it's a strong contender.

    Strange Request

Thanks for the warning Mike but nah, I won't be using it for the reasons outlined to Len as well as the copyright issue. So I'm still looking for a picture of a burnt out 60s BCT bus with a platform and rear stairs to fit the storyline.

    Strange Request

Thanks Len, I did do a search and the nearest I got was the picture you've posted. Unfortunately, the vehicle is too new and a WM not a BCT. However, on second thoughts, a burnt out rather than crashed bus would suit the storyline better.

    Strange Request

Have any of you bus enthusiast got a picture of a BCT bus badly crash/bomb damaged? I'd like to use one as an illustration to a story I'm working on set in the mid-sixties. I'd be very grateful if someone could oblige. Thanks in anticipation, Paul.

    1st touch on a Computer

Hi el-stano, my brother worked as a field engineer for ICL so was likely your paths may have crossed one time or another. Like others, I was introduced to computers via the ZX81, which I bought for my kid for £40 from WH Smiths in West Bromwich. It caused more tears than happiness when the...

    Severn valley railway.

Lloyd, Isn't that old Arley ferry (post #7) now docked (dumped) at the side of the river in Bewdley? I think I can remember it, or something similar, being used as landing station where motor boats were hired out in the late 50s/early 60s.

    What is a pikelett

Well that's two entries in Wiki as my link explains how "Pikelet" is a UK Midlands, Australian and NZ term for them. But, as they say, a crumpet/muffin by any other name could taste as good when toasted and buttered.
