    Birmingham FC

Having no interest in football but knowing Doug was a keen angler I can only guess they're celebrating him catching that monster. Why in Y fronts is a mystery unless they had to paddle in to help him pull it out.

Yes, I can remember that treatment. It was to seal the ends of the hairs and prevent you from catching cold after the cut!!!! (so I was told on enquiry)

    Gangs of Birmingham

Oh yeah, I forgot to answer the bit about the HTC Desire. I've got one of those and know how to send messages to the Web but find the screen too small to use for Internet forums.

"Cut" = Highlight whatever you want to move, click on "Edit", select "cut". "Paste" = Select where you want to what paste in what you cut and click. Then clock "Edit" and select "paste". (The same goes for Copy and Paste, just substitute "Copy" for "Cut")

    Wreath rack

I'm afraid I can't agree. To me it looks quite tranquil. I image to be buried there would feel like having a woodland burial (if one feels anything at all when one's fell off the perch.) :topsy_turvy:

History of the Rum Runner Club- Birmingham mail article

Ozzy was lucky, I remember a bloke being killed by the bouncers for trying to get in without a jacket on.

    First Record Bought?

Yup, Mike McGear's real name is Peter Michael McCartney. He changed his name so as not to be accused of living off his brother's fame (but everyone knew who he was anyway). I also believe you're quite right in him now working on recording production etc. Personally though, I thought Scaffold...

Witton and Perry Barr: Tamed Project

Seems like a very interesting project. I'm just a little concerned that you publish your contact details on an open forum. I would suggest,to avoid attracting unwanted spam, you ask people to send a PM/IM which you can reply to with your details. That way only members can get in touch.

That's certainly a lot different to its replacement that my daughter now teaches in.

    Elmdon Airport Birmingham International Airport

But why the "Buccaneer" when it was part of an airport complex?

    Elmdon Airport Birmingham International Airport

Yup, I remember Orion. I flew to Ibiza with them on a 737 around 1967. Didn't Doug Ellis have an interest in Hrizon? Does anyone remember a bar being called the Buccaneer just at the main entrance to Elmdon? I can remember doing a bit of courting there and enjoying my first British pint in...

The newer building comes nowhere to competing with the old.

The street looks a bit like Colmore Row to me - maybe where the Gaumont was built. The geezer looks like everybody's Uncle James.

    Items that have faded away

I can remember being told at school that the glue we used in woodwork was made from boiling cows hooves. (One wonders what the present day glue sniffers would make of it!

Great that you had he forethought then, John. You certainly set yourself a task and I'm very glad you got as far as you did. I tried similar projects and never got half as far in an age when photography is so much easier and affordable.
