    Showcase Cinema

I see that the Showcase Cinema on the Kingsbury Rd has closed down, apparently Jaguar have bought them out, so they can expand I assume. Now the nearest cinema to me is at Star City, and I was never keen on that place. Ah well, there's always the telly. Terry

Going back to the horses, it took me a while to find it, but I have attached a newspaper clipping from 1946. It was my wife's grandfather who unfortunatly was killed by a horse. Terry

    Norman Pett, cartoonist

Many years ago the Daily Mirror used to run a cartoon strip called Jane, our older members will remember it, (especially the men). This leads me on to when back in the 60’s we regularly visited my dad’s brother who at the time lived in Rupert St, Nechells. As was the custom then, the men went...

Christmas 2012 at the Jewellers Arms

Forgot that I had this picture on my mobile. It's of Postie and Astoness dancing, and the guy sitting down wishing they would hurry up and go away, and the young lady on the right is upset because Postie never asked her for a dance. :love-struck: Oh, and Astoness left her bra hanging up on the...

Oliver Garage - 278 Chester Road, Castle Bromwich

According to Google Earth, 278 Chester Rd would have been in the vicinity of where Redcrofts and KFC now stand. I have attached a pic of KFC and ironically there is a garage there as well. Though things could have been much different back then.

    Stonebridge Hotel

I would say it is definatley the Stonebridge. The weighing scales are in both pics and the doorbell is in the same position as picture 1. The Stonebridge was demolished years ago and the pub that is there now used to be the Malt Shovel I think and now a Harvester I believe. Terry

    Clock Garage. Castle Bromwich

The Clock Garage was where I bought my first decent car, a ford cortina £450 if I remember correctly, back in the 60's. As Alberta says, it will always be known as the Clock for years to come. Terry

Fans at St Andrews threw 10p coins on the pitch. Police couldn't decide whether it was an act of hooliganism or a take over bid. -
