    I remember my Gran had a Cossor Wirless. I have looked all around be can not find it. Powered by HT Battery, Grid Vice Battery and Glass Accumalator. I had an Eveready Sky Leader in late 1957 very much like the Sky Master which came out later in 1963.

    I have not read it all Alf but I have got a plumber's scraper in the shed. I don't remember any soldered or riveted bits on the small amount of toys I had.

    I tend to think steel toys years ago was tin plate toys, Held together by parts with small tabs on that were pushed into slots in the other part of the toy and bent round to hold the parts together. They were of coarse made of sheet steel and painted. Try Google " Tin plate toys."

    I seem to remember Coconuts and the fact they were only in reach of us at Pat Collin's fair although of coarse we did not stand a chance of winning one.

    I went to see Lonnie Donegan in Taunton, Johnny Dankworth and Cleo Lane at the Birmingham Town Hall and James Last in Liverpool a few years back. Roy Orbison on two separate shows in Peterborough, Yes I think that was truly entertaining.

    Mike. That's what I remember, Birmingham's smells - the gasworks was overpowering but you could also sort out the other smells. The breweries had quite a pleasant smell so did those little cake shops that baked on their own premises.
