PTE HENRY BYARD 18463 WORCESTERSHIRE REGIMENT

Janice, Looks like both are not my man then. As I said on his Pension card his birthday is 12 September, 1887 which I assumed might be wrong because I could find any record for a birth in 1887. So search goes on. David

PTE HENRY BYARD 18463 WORCESTERSHIRE REGIMENT

Trying to find Henry in the 1911 Census. Arrived in France 19, July 1915. Wounded around June 1916, listed missing June 1918. On Pension record identified "assumed dead between 11 /17 April 1918 with 2nd Battalion". Date of birth 12 Sept., 1887 and widow is Harriett Susan of 20, Erasmus Rd...

PTE William (Thomas) BUTWELL, Worcestershire Regiment

MWS, Great detective work. Would never have thought to do that! Even after I used the name of Butterwell on Ancestry I still didn't get the hit, it was only in Findmypast that it came up. Thank you again. As usual either you or Janice come up trumps. David

PTE William (Thomas) BUTWELL, Worcestershire Regiment

MWS, That's amazing! I have searched around the name Butwell and it never occurred to use Butterwell. Did you search using ALL the family members? Thank you again for completing my record. David

    MWS, Can you please explain?

PTE William (Thomas) BUTWELL, Worcestershire Regiment

Here's a challenge for you sleuths. For about 2 years, on and off, I have been trying to trace the above soldier in the 1901 Census, but to no avail. He is also known as Thomas William and just William or Wm. So he was born on 3 August, 1887, in Birmingham. Father, William and Mother Julia...

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

Janice, At least that's worth knowing. David

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

MWS, Comparing Nos. with known men with similar no. who have an enlistment date. I have a large data base of Worcestershire Regiment's men. David

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

His Regimental no. Indicates he enlisted around 1903 and his medal card shows when he landed in France. So same man. David

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

Janice, He resided in Birmingham in 1916 and guessing he was demobbed in 1918/1919. Hence trying to find him in Absent Voters. David

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

Janice, It is. Not sure what you mean? David

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

I've gone through the William D Burgess, with and without D and nothing links back to information that I know is correct. What I need is Absent Voters list for him in 1918/1919 as this would give his number. I've tried all the sites I could think of but nothing jumps out. Any other...

VillaJ, Can you give me his details please?

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

Janice, I drew a blank with Wilfred. As you say William is very common. As I couldn't find any pension papers for him there were no clues. I will play around with William and see if anything jumps out. Thank you for your searches. David

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

Janice, Looking at my database 14/16 years is around the earliest age, providing they told the truth. David

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

Janice, I assumed William was an error. When he was reported on 4 August, 1916 as wounded he was reported as residing in Birmingham. This is from ForcesWarRecords. I couldn't find anything to suggest he is William rather than Wilfred. I'll have a look at other soldiers to see what age he...

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

Yes I also came across William but it didn't go anywhere so I put it down as an error. Do you think otherwise? David

    L/Sjt Wilfred D Burgess 7780 Worcestershire Regiment.

Hello all, here I am again. Another soldier from Birmingham but been unable to find any information on this man. All I know is that he enlisted into the Worcester's early 1903 into 2nd Battalion. Called up for WW1 and seems to have been wounded twice. Went to France in December, 1914...

PTE JAS. (JAMES) JOSEPH BROWN, 7998, WORCESTERSHIRE REGIMENT

I guess there could be many reasons why the records aren't there, but I certainly appreciate all the hard research work that's gone into finding all this. A big thank you to all of you. David
