    My Grandfather had 3 numbers in WW1 first with the Cycle Regiment they were disbandet then he was with the West Yorkshire reg (why Yorkshire i don´t know as he lived in Yardley Wood all his life) , one battalion merged with another and he got another number, so not uncommon
