    Food Office Orange Juice

I loved the Welfare orange in the medicine bottles, it was free to pregnant moms in the 60's. I was pregnant during the winter months of 59/60 and I liked to make a hot drink out of the orange. I would pour half the bottle and top it up with hot water and a spoon of sugar - I must have had a...

    Aston Hall

It was my playground, always there and taken for granted. Now of course I just love it. The Rat Pan was/is, not sure if it is open now, on the corner of Bevington Road and Trinity Road.

    Birmingham twinned with Chicago

Re: Birmingham twinned with Chicargo Love the photos Jennyann. I enjoy your stories of the pioneering you as a young girl. You were braver than I was in those days. I only came into my own with the help of Brian, he had dreams too and we followed them together.

    Tower blocks Perry Barr demolition.

I think Enid Goodwins was along that stretch of Perry Barr. Thank goodness those tower blocks are gone, that bit of Birchfield Road is confusing to drive along, especially if you want to turn right to go along the Broadway. Maybe they will sort that out with the new buildings going up. The...

The photo's of St Peter and Pauls in the snow are lovely, Wendy. Thanks for posting them, the church has had a part in my and my ancestor's lives. Birmingham Cinemas

As soon as I stopped thinking I knew the name of that film The House of Wax. A bit of a frightener, worse than The Fly I think.

    Birmingham Cinemas

I have never been to the Cinephone, but the cinema in Bristol Road in the 50's was the Bristol, it was the only Cinema in Birmingham that showed films in 3D. The first one I saw was The Fly, there was another very famous 3D film but I can't get my head around its name.

    fred and baliey

They are little loves, they will give you their trust and be faithful all of their lives. That is what people who misuse dogs will never know, it's their loss.

    Birmingham Cinemas

I remember all of those cinemas, Andrew. I spent many Saturday mornings at the Odeon Perry Barr in the 40's, and as I grew up and the programme changed twice weekly I spent many an evening there. At one point of my childhood I lived in Hamstead and a friend of my mom was an usherette at the...

Well that made me clear up my photo files, I hope this is The Safe Harbour , or The Diggers or even the Sailor Rest. We didn't go in but it is in good shape from the outside, the rest of Moor Lane is a bit of a mess.

The Thame flooded the road under the railway bridge in Witton in about '52/3. We kids heard about it and all went off to have a look, putting on our Wellies. Nothing could pass and the police gave us athe thumbs down when we wanted a paddle. Which bridge in Hamstead is new? I know the canal...
