    That is a great map. It is clearly how I remember the area. The house I live at was the 4th house up on the map on the left.the 3rd property up was a chip shop.

    That is how I remember the shareholders pub. Too young to remember it before it was changed. The hoardings on the opposite side of the road was where my grand parents lived. Had to go up a long path to get to the front door. If my memory serves me well, I think the pub was like this in 1960...

    Hello Aston Lad. My dad's parents lived in Park Lane, & we lived in Potters lane, next to the fish shop just down from the shareholders pub. That was our first house after I was born.

    I used spend loads of time in the Tow Rope Cafe in the late 70's/ early 80's. Had many a great night in there.

    Thank you Aston Lad. That always had me baffled. I once asked my dad & grand parents if they knew as they lived in Park Lane, but they never told me. Always remember when I was little that when I saw that, I knew I was not far from home.

    When I was there, I never knew roy by name, just remember his face. He was in the seniors when I started there. He would be about 8 years older than me.

    That took me by surprise, seeing that about Ray Holder. I can just about remember him, as I was not at Upper Thomas street for long, due to the bullying. I wagged it for ages until I went to an open air school near bromsgrove. Really loved whistle down the wind, as did my mum.

    I had the same experience at those baths. Never learned to swim because of that. Hated going into swimming pools until 18 years ago when I went on holiday with my children.(never swam though unfortunately). Some teachers were not nice in those days.

    I can remember how lovely bertha was. When i went to fetch the coal, she would always give me some sweets. I think she used to do this with all the children that fetched the coal.

    I remember Bertha. Had to go & fetch the coal from there every week for my parents. I never knew why the picture of the policeman was painted on the wall though. Maybe someone will know. It has baffled me for over 55 years.

    Hello Pete. Have you seen the quote from John Knight ? He says it is Rocky Lane, The corner of scolefield street is Anthony's sweet shop,just round the bend on the left is Hughes paper shop & straight in front of nechells green & the Beehive pub.

    You was not too far away from me then Pete, as we used to live just up the road from you in bracebridge Street. What a small world we live in. Unfortunately, I do not remember any names of people who lived near us.
