    George Derrington & Emma Green

Hi both, I'm more confused now than when I started. There seems to be a number of Emma Green's all born or baptised around 1842.

    George Derrington & Emma Green

I'm even more confused now than when I started. However, I think Emma's parents are James Green and Mary Ann from Birmingham. Thank you both so much for your interest and information.

    George Derrington & Emma Green

Hi PJM, Thank you for joining in what is turning out to be quite a journey today for me. So, if you are both correct, it means I have the wrong Emma. I attach her birth certificate for your interest anyway which shows a registration in February 1841.

Well, I’ve checked the marriage certificate and both George and Emma have the age of 21 so if you take 21 away from the date on the certificate it comes out at 1841 which is the date Emma was born so it works for me. What I cannot work out is the mention of Ruben on the census?

Hi MWS, that is really interesting. My grandfather was William. Do you have the newspaper clip? It’s starting to look like they were a right old family, moving all the time and being on the wrong side of the law.

    George Derrington & Emma Green

Much appreciated, MWS, I was wondering about George’s middle name and sent off for a copy of his birth certificate. Also that’s interesting about Mary being born out of wedlock. I have a record of him being in the workhouse in 1864 and his trade listed as gunmaker also labourer. He had a hard...

Hi Richard, I don’t recall the name and I was only on the typewriters. It was a good time in my life even though I was only on £3.3s .0d a week and gave me my sense of independence earning a weekly wage.
