    Lest We Forget

Having read these posts, I'm crying too. I just dropped my son off at his friend's house (about 10 miles away, this is small town America), on the way we saw 3 parades and lots of sad faces, every town here holds a parade ending at 11, in the local cemeteries.

    High Speed Train 2

I've just had a quick scan of the report at:- https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/stop-hs2.html - "up to 40 trains per hour (1 per 90 seconds), a quarter of a mile long, going past at 250mph". Who do they think will be using these trains that they need '1 every 1.5 minutes? Where are they...

    High Speed Train 2

I'm glad you brought this to my attention, Drayton Basett was my son's first school, and we often go back there to visit the working man's club, my son brings his cue over from the states just to catch up with friends and play billiards with them.

Bbc Turn Back The Time Programme

This picture reminds me of a grocery store my aunty used to take me to, in Alum Rock, at the bottom of Havelock rd opposite Ted Haynes, I think it was 'Masons' It felt really posh to me, but, I was only small, so it probably wasn't this grand.

    A Piece - Sandwich

My mom used to give me 'a piece' all the time. And a few years back, my husband and his buddy (and me), tracked down an old neighbour of theirs. When we got to his house he was getting his daughters fed and to bed, and asked us if we wanted 'a piece' too. So, people still use the expression. I...

    Billesley Farm

Thanks Guys for all your input. It's always mystified me. I've come to the conclusion that it was a building that was a part of the Billesley Farm Estate.

    Billesley Farm

The picture you posted is the one I found, it was in a book I bought in the 90's. This is exactly the same as my relatives house. Now, there is a utility room at the left and a bathroom and double garage on the right. The woodwork above the door is the same. There is a sun-house to the left of...

    Billesley Farm

Does anyone know anything about Billesley Farm, in Billesley? Research I've done on the web says that the farm was demolished, in the 20's, but, a relative of mine has lived there 1970's thru the 90's. I've found a picture of the old farm and it is very, very much like my relatives house. So...

    Harborne

My mum still has her outside loo, although she doesn't use it. When we went 'posh' and had an upstairs bathroom, the outside toilet became the mens toilet. My mum used to leave a paraffin lamp in there to stop the pipes from freezing
