    Getting on the tram

Thank you a wonderful link great read with some wonderful pictures and great information Now keeping with the thread getting on and off a tram must have been a little inconvenient first of all for the motor man he stood in front of the steps and must have had to move all the time.

    Getting on the tram

What I should of spoke about in my last post I am sure no one would have been getting on a tram going down the Lickey Road on a bank holiday as the tram would have been packed liked sardines. So no stopping to pick up but that tram must have been on the brakes all the way down.

    Getting on the tram

So a little off thread at first I worked with a retired fireman in the 70's and he told me that driving the truck with the water was the hardest to stop, the water would hold enough energy to push the engine through the traffic light under braking. I am now wondering how good the brakes were on...

    Getting on the tram

    Bus Chassis

You are of course correct the point I was trying to make is all the variants of body's on the same platform. Some bus coach work has 2 sets of doors and other differences on the same chassis. When I went to college a instructor said a bus chassis had the axles above the frame rails ?, I have...

    Getting on the tram

I see a headlight on a tram but no stop lights. So how did people know when a tram was going to slow down or stop ? Ha Ha. I suppose back then common sense was common not like today.

    Getting on the tram

Well the whole American school bus debate is for another thread on another forum, I live it every day Now it was the American school bus that got me thinking about the correct protocol for cars and trams. Here we have to stop in both directions on a non divided road while the bus is at rest...

    Bus Chassis

That's a keeper looks like it may be out of commission but just looking at it you can see it's been a work horse for many years. I really like the cab configuration, makes me think that this was indeed a purpose built break down rig, rather than some kind of conversion of a truck. I really love...

    Bus Chassis

I do it shows the evolution of a chassis and all the ways it could be configured, after all for me that's what a bus is a truck chassis with windows and seats When looking at many of the bus pictures they show how many varying body styles were on the same chassis The auto industry has a long...

    Bus Chassis

I think the "spalling' you speak of is paint wear, looking at the long platform support beams are solid at the ends, if they were aluminium I would expect them to be open, the same can be said for the short support for the lower platform which goes through both uprights, The ladder seems to...

    Bus Chassis

Wow I hope we are looking at a bus that's had some what of a clean up after the fire There is not a lot left, there must be a lot of fibre glass used I can not think of what else could burn and take the bus to the chassis The trolley looks like a self build affair narrow to go between the...

    Electric Trams

Where in Rubery was the terminus ? For trams. The reason I ask that's a tall brick wall.
