    Birmingham buses

Hi! I am old enough to remember going to Birmingham on one of these. Slatted seats and all. Yes, I do know that this is certainly NOT a collectors model, but it does sit nicely with my WMPTE Aisla Volvo, that I have. As I mentioned earlier somewhere on these pages, I started at Sutton Garage in...

Unsure if anyone is interested, but this is a model Midland Red, that I have in my collection. The detail is really good. Made in China of course.

Hi! This was a green wooden building, NOT what you might call a bungalow, it was built by Grandad, and stood alone, on the bank on the right side of Glenavon, it was up a bit of a bank. I cannot find anyone that remembers it. Thanks anyway.

    Kynoch's I M I 1950s Onwards

Anyone remember JACK HILL, my Grandad, who was a sheet metal worker at Kynoch. That would be in the late forties early fifties. He was later to become well known for a letter that was found in Charlie Chaplin's private desk.

    Where did you live

Hi everyone, just on the off chance that anyone else was born where I was... 120, Calshot Road, which is just off the Old Walsall Road, at the Scott Arms, Great Barr. Next door at 118, lived Frank Scott, and the other side, at 121, was Kathleen Harrison. Cheers!

    Birmingham buses

The 50 is the bus that I would catch from the back of Digbeth, and get off at Glenavon Road, Kings Heath. My Grandad and Nan lived in a self built wooden bungalow on the right hand side of Glenavon Road. That would be around 1948. No one can recall it. The 50 was an adventure for me, as I was...

    Liqourice Root & New Tarmac?

Anyone remember "Dr. Collis Browns Mixture"? I was a cough medicine with Morphine as its main ingredient! Oh, and when I tell my sons that as a child at school, we had a Dental Truck arrive in the playground, and we had to have our teeth inspected, and once I had to have one out.....don't worry...

Blimey mate, that's brilliant. I think that the hairdresser was Alf's wife. I have some great memories of Alf, and of my Dad, who had all his cars over the years done by Alf. My Dad was manager of the Butchers Shop, Richards Of Aston (later to become Farr & Smiths) on the corner of Bracebridge...

Hi! Anyone remember sticks of LIQUORICE ROOT, that we chewed for ages, until the juice was all gone? Plus, did anyone pick up up chunks of what we called "Chewin Tar", from of the roadside, when the men were laying fresh tarmac? Or.....was it just me?
