    Pubs Of The Past

First time I ever got drunk was at the Queens Head (not the last though)! It was still there last time I looked, refurbished and with some silly name.

    Line of Duty

Is anyone watching "Line of Duty" on Tuesdays BBC2? It's filmed around Broad Street, the police station is actually the old TSB Bank. It's a good TV "gritty cop drama" in itself (so far; episode 2 on Tuesday) but it's good to play 'spot the location' as well!

I wish I could remember more of my time at SR Carolina, but all I remember is the joy of Fridays (and I used to go to The Plaza as well). I can't even remember the name of the girl I sat next to in the office. I DO remember the supervisor was 'avin' it away with one of the managers and they both...

Crikey Lyn., were does the time go? I think that historical tour was incomplete and it must be time to resurrect it and see what changes have come about (i.e. have they put a new ale on)!? Carolina, I was at Swallow Raincoats a bit before you, around 1958. The canteen was the best part I thought.

I hated working at SR! Place and people OK but my job was soooooo boring (just copy typing really). One lunchtime I walked up to Warstone Lane and got another job at Toye Kenning and Spencer, a little more money and I loved the job! Those were the days, when you could do that #sigh#. I've been...

Yeah...right this time Lyn. On the opposite corner to the bank, and yes - the building's still there, some sort of fashion manufacturing I think now. And I have been to the Clifden lately - in fact I was there with you, you daft bat! Remember the pub crawl....herm...historical tour we did with...

    Soho Road Handsworth

In the late 50s I used to walk into town at night from Putney Road, via Hamstead Road, Hockley Hill, Great Hampton Street et al to go to the Jazz nights. Not a care in the world and never any trouble....neither was I!

Lyn...I used to work at Swallow Raincoats and it's not the one with the Pelican. SR was at the junction of Well Street and Great Hampton St. Lord Clifden's smartened up a bit, ain't it?

Stephen and John: We were taken around the Averys factory by the conservator of the museum there. He was very informative and made it all interesting. I know what you mean about "little going on" there, it seems massive computers now do most of the work and the actual factory is looking very...
