    Ok, wrong guess.

    BANNISTER, Mary and Martha

The most obvious answer is usually the right one. Martha is listed as servant in 1891 and it is possible that she had moved on from that position and found one in Bham. Alternatively, she was still living in Rowley Regis and the address she gives on her marriage was one of convenience. If...

Terence Davis? Father Raymond married twice? Possibly 5 sisters and a half sister?

Thanks, should have realised Carmenucci was Carmen Despite being ill, I guess he must be the child that travelled with Rose in 1907.

Just found another son of Eleuterio born before he emigrated, Caramenucci, birth listed as Zommi 1907. Not sure what happened to him but he must have died young.

    HS2 progress 2020 and beyond

Don't think it's going to be finished before 2035 and with the amount of money already spent it has to be finished no matter what the cost. Not defending anyone but it isn't easy building projects like this in Britain. Everyone wants the benefits but no one wants the inconvenience. The same...

    Iommi family

All family trees have these problems to work out - women who have illegitimate children who take their step father's name, or put their grandfather's name (or that of another relative) as their father's on their marriage certificate. Children who have the right parents but are born (some times...

Sometimes it was fairly straight forward and sometimes it took years to work something out and then only when new records came online. Here is a thread I started about my 2 x great grandmother and you can see a message almost 10 years later when I worked it out...

Lies and mistakes can lead you on wild goose chases. Just one instance of a name, a place or a date can be a nightmare. Corroboration is everything. On one census a 2 x g grandfather was listed as John Moore born Dorking in Surrey, he turned out to be an Adam Moore born Docking in Norfolk...

Brummies who moved to the USA

One of those things we'll probably never know. Would there be any benefit for them to marry in the US rather than in England?

That must be her future husband bringing her over, he is listed as Walter rather than George on the 1891 & 1901 censuses.

Some years later but the husband of my great aunt left her and when she wanted to re-marry she put a notice in the newspapers in the area where she thought he was to make him appear in court so she could divorce him. It's not easy to understand what people thought in the past and what they...

Yes, there are lots of them born around the same time. It wouldn't surprise me that she listed herself as a widow without knowing if Luciano was alive or not or even she knew he was alive. It wasn't an infrequent occurrence and who was going to check in those days. The chances of someone...

Brummies who moved to the USA

Mary Bannister's cousin Wilfred, the son of Matthew Bannister, married George Walter Wilson's sister Florence and emigrated to Utah. George and Florence's mother Ruth Wilson became a Mormon and they lived in Utah. Other Wilson siblings also emigrated.

True but we (strongly) suspect that that was a lie with Luciano being alive and in Shropshire in 1911.

Brummies who moved to the USA

What would you like to know? The 1910 US census gives her year of emigration as 1904 but I can't see anything else. Her first husband George Walter Wilson was also born in Old Hill, so perhaps their relationship began before they emigrated. He went before her, arriving in 1902.
