    Remembrance Day 2010

I've marched at the Cenotaph in London every Remembrance Sunday since I can remember but this year, I can't make it there. I can't go to the NMA either so where should I go within the West Midlands area? Where is there a good service and a parade worth seeing or even taking part in? Chocks...

A great and historic story spoilt by all the music & songs. It would be great as a serious film.

Elizabeth. The cars were beautiful, sylish and curvy, just like the women and equally as unpredictable. There ware so many British cars that they couldn't all be mentioned on here but suffice to say, most were still made in Brum. Just a few of the many Chocks

    Origins of the Brummie accent

Many years ago I read a book (I can't remember it's title) but it clearly stated that many words and phrases and pronunciation used within the Birmingham Area, are very close to the traditional Saxon. This was because the Saxons had nearly 500 years of constant settlement within the area and any...

    Birmingham in 1950s

Jim Dale only had a few hits if I remember rightly before giving up his singing to consentrate on his acting. "Be My Baby" was his biggest hit and he also did "Crazy For You" & "Don't Let Go". He was infact a very good singer. Lets not forget some of the other great British Rock & Rollers not...

    Typhoo Tea Bordesley Street Digbeth

Hi ger22van. There is a conection between the name "Coleshill" and "Ty-phoo". The guy who started the company lived in Coleshill (The house is still there) and he mixed all the blends in a front room of the house until he got what he wanted. When he was happy, he started the now world famous...

    Birmingham in 1950s

I wasn't born untill the late 50's so I don't really remember it but I still have a great love for the era. One of my hobbies is collecting 50's records , and i also love the aesthetics of 50's cars and aircraft. Lets face it, they had style back then, but what we have to look at it the legacy...

    Sawdust.

I work for a well established timber specialist that has been in business in Brum since 1923. Being nosey I started to look into the history of the company and found out that they started off by selling bags of sawdust. My first thought was that there must have been a lot of butchers about way...
