I was siting in someones garden last night, when two Brocks came waddling up to within 20ft. of me. I managed a quick couple of pictures before they headed for the bird feeding station. They have poor eyesight, but an excellent sense of smell. The wind was in my favour. Steve.

I have just come in from doing a bit of dead-heading. There is a feeling of Autumn in the air. We have a strong NW wind this morning, dropping the temperature down to a wind chill 7 deg. No watering required. We had very heavy rain last night. No wind, but the rain was bouncing off the ground...

We do not get many over this side, compared to the West coast, which was unbearable at times. Generally speaking, the wet weather will bring them out in droves, but they tend to tail off come September. Steve.

No shortage of Sparrows up here. We have plenty of Starlings, but little else. ONE Blue Tit, so far this year. No Blackbirds, Robins, Wagtails, etc. Just outside of the village, once in open country, there are fair numbers of Skylarks, Yellowhammers, Rooks. Seabird numbers are well down...
