Earth and Jupiter are currently at the closest point they will be for the next 10 years - so ideal time for photography. Add a crystal clear night just before midnight yesterday and I managed to get this one:- All 4 Galilean satellites and excellent cloud detail. Moons from the left - Ganymede...

WHAT A PHOTO!!! So much going on in it!

Also managed to get some photos of Jupiter and all 4 of its Galilean satellites in the last few weeks. Photographing Jupiter is a bit of a dark art (these are taken with a camera and very big lens, not through a telescope) - you have to wait for a moonless, cloudless night otherwise you loose...

This picture from 1954 shows the old Municipal Bank building (behind the black car):- The building is still there and has a couple of nice artifacts still on the wall:- It is one of the last old buildings left on that side of the street - but does not look out of place with the modern...

Excellent photos! Amazing to see quite a bit has changed since 2015. Incidentally we went to party in the Cube Hotel last Saturday in the Champagne Room circled below - some of the best views of Birmingham you will ever get!

The taller building is the Gem Building. I knew it well as it used to be the home of M.Y. Darts and I used to work there at weekends when I was much much younger - sweeping up, dying feathers for dart flights and even turning a few darts on the lathes. All of these buildings still exist by the way.

Yes - but please dont worry - they are fatty lumps. She did have one benign tumor behind her ear - that was removed 3 weeks ago. She has had these lumps for a while - they do not bother her and because of her age (14) the vet advises against removing them. She just gets on with things!

Took our dogs for a walk on the Streetley side of the park on Saturday and found an amazing range of fungi growing - they were literally everywhere! Luckily the dogs totally ignored them, even though the one is licking her chops.....
