1837 was there a prison in Stourbridge?

As you have suggested, it wasn't, it had just been converted into flats and these were the new residents pictured outside them in 1926. Sorry, I've just noticed that had already been confirmed above @ #11.

    Presbytery Aston (Hall ?)

The priests housekeeper from a local church, came to our shop for the fruit and vegetables, until we closed the business in the mid 80s. Such housekeepers, became better known after Mrs Doyle appeared in the TV sitcom Father Ted in the 1990s:

I was thinking within 800 yards of a ground Mike, but as you say parking is a different matter and people can park as much as a mile and a half away. Residents only parking was introduced some time ago, to help local residents park outside their own homes on match-days, but it seems it is rarely...

Might she have been employed in some capacity at that address, perhaps as part of the parish priests household staff?

I guess they will be aware of it and would be used to the odd fan stopping to have a look, that said quite a few residents seem visibly shocked every other week, when football fans walk backwards and forwards past their houses, on their way to and from Villa Park on match days. I would have...

Humorous And Interesting Newspaper Stories about Birmingham

We have had cats that have jumped onto the bonnet, I think it's the heat from the engine that attracts them.

Sadly, this is so predictable. I guess it's simply a case of supply and demand. Hotels are more expensive when something is happening in the city, because the demand for rooms is higher than normal. Hotels around Wembley are exactly the same on Cup Final/Semi Final dates, with prices much higher...

I went with the junior school too. I think we went in a double decker bus, I'm sure the school will have booked us in as a group. I haven't a clue on the admission cost, it will have been in old pennies though. It was one of several trips to B6 that I made as a boy, great fun and I'm...

    Aston Hall

It was a temporary sculpture in Victoria Square. It was outside the Town Hall from July 2021, but was relocated to Colmore Square by December (to make way for the Christmas Market). It then remained in Colmore Square throughout 2022 and was then moved to Aston Hall & Park, and it is now in Lady...

    Aston Hall

Something that looks totally out of place in Aston Hall? This new work probably does merit a place somewhere, but I don't really think this is it.

    Ozzy Osbourne (John)

Yes lyn. It's nice that one of us will be there and he can tell me all about it afterwards. I still tell my family of going to stadium concerts 40+ years ago to see the likes of the Stones and Simon & Garfunkel at Wembley, he can hopefully do the same about this one, in the 2060s... ;)
