Janice post #412 shows Easy Row much clearer than my map. I think Easy Row was definitely on the High Street not at the rear. There are more buildings behind the Row so I'll see what Saxton has to say on the subject. I'm taking the book back this evening so will have a look before then.

Apologies for the standard of these photos of Easy Row - The photo is taken from Saxton's Bygone Erdington and the map is from Birmingham Library. Easy Row is just at the bottom of the map, disappearing onto the next one. Barnabas Road wasn't there then.

The shops on the right gave way to W M Taylor and then Owen Owen. The church was on Newman Road I think. .

Looks to be the 1950's mw0njm. I believe the donkeys belonged to the Chipmans who had a field at the Chester Road end of Court Lane. I remember them well.

My great grandfather, Henry Davis, lived in Green's Village in the mid-1800's. He came from Radnorshire.

I can only think that it refers to Hill, as we know it today. It's in the right area but I'm not sure. Names and area boundaries change over time and the PC is over 100 years old.

It's strange how someone you have never met can become part of your life, like the members of this forum and Chris was one of them. He will be missed for his help, wide knowledge and good advice. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Hi Again Viv, This photo was taken at the tram terminus outside Broadfields House. I have lots of photos of the area but none of the house even though the wall is sometimes visible. It was also the bus terminus. Most frustrating! The usual view of this event is the other side of the tram. Penny
