This picture was on Twitter today: Town centre, looking down Albert Street. The building on the right with the rounded frontage was always interesting becasue of its shape, and the decorative top part. I can't remember if it was a carpet shop in the late 1960s, which is when my memories start...

We've also been watching it and found it very entertaining. (They were two of my father's favourite actresses). I've been reading a bit about Joan Crawford, who was very troubled and contradictory, even more so than is shown in the series, perhaps. We also recorded the film, but haven't seen it...

Anyone remember something called Coffee Crisp? I googled it, and apparently it's made in Canada, and not available here. Is it the same thing? I'm not sure. It seems to be a wafery type of thing. Also there was Bliss, which was nuts in a kind of marshmallow covered in chocolate, and Nux, which...

Fry's Five Centres, I think, which I used to like. You can get get some of these old-fashioned sweets from places online. (I bought some white chocolate mice - they were horrible!)

It is a good photo. I lived in Witton Street, and it was part of my "landscape." It's weird to think of it having a boxing ring. The little shop next door was Rene's when I lived there, and I think later it became a small supermarket. The bus stop was just outside.
