    Lewis's Department Store

There was something really special about Lewis's. The other day there as a programme about how High Streets are dying, and what people are trying to do about it. It's so sad. House of Fraser in Reading, near where I live, is getting a bowling alley!!

    Crossroads programme

A friend who is a morris dancer once had to teach Paul Henry and others at the Rep some morris steps for a play. It was some time ago.

    The Newcomers

I will watch later, Maurice. I think there was a young boy and a grandmother (Gladys Henson?) I was once on the same bus as her, and she looked awfully bad-tempered!

This was on Twitter, posted by Birmingham Museum Images. It's Bordesley Green with the tram going to High Street. My husband thinks the roads to either side are Blake Lane and Churchill Road.

    Holidays of the past

We went to Rhyl at least once, but I don't remember it, being only a little dot at the time. We must have gone by train. We stayed with a Mrs Jenkins (I've been told this) and you bought food for meals and gave it to her to cook.

Peaky Blinders - A world away from Downton!

There was something about this on Broadcasting House this morning. Helen McCrory's dialect coach was on, in the context of getting an American to speak Wolverhampton (!)

Peaky Blinders - A world away from Downton!

I felt it had lost its way a bit, but perhaps it will improve as it goes on. It did seem fractured.
